Jen Shah to receive early prison release after wire fraud conviction
Former Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah is set for early release from federal prison following her 2022 wire fraud conviction.
Shah has been incarcerated at the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, since February 2023 and was originally due to remain in custody until August 2029.
According to a statement issued to People on November 21 by her manager, Chris Giovanni, Shah is scheduled to be released on December 10.
Giovanni said, “Everyone’s very grateful for the [Federal Bureau of Prisons’] decision, especially because it means Jen will be able to reunite with her family for the holidays. It’s a gift she doesn’t take for granted.”
The Federal Bureau of Prisons did not comment on the updated date but confirmed that Shah’s current projected release is August 30 2026. USA TODAY has requested further clarification from Giovanni.
Shah’s sentence has been adjusted multiple times since she began serving it, including a reduction earlier this year that moved her expected release to November 2026.
Her original 78-month sentence was handed down in January 2023, after she pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud as part of a nationwide telemarketing scheme that operated between 2012 and 2022.
Prosecutors stated that thousands of victims were targeted, including many over the age of 55. Shah admitted in court that she participated in marketing products “that had little or no value.” She told the judge, “I knew this was wrong and that many people were harmed, and I’m so sorry.”
In addition to her prison term, Shah agreed to pay $6.5 million in restitution and forfeiture. Her attorney said at sentencing that she “deeply regrets the mistakes that she has made.”
Giovanni told People that Shah has spent her time in custody reflecting and working towards personal change, adding that she is focused on rebuilding her life and prioritising her family once she returns home.
