Louis Tomlinson has contributed a significant four-figure donation to support former One Direction bodyguard Preston Mahon, who is raising funds for urgent medical treatment, according to reporting from The Sun and the Daily Mail. Mahon, who protected Tomlinson and former bandmates Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik during the group’s peak years, recently launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover the cost of surgery needed to treat blocked arteries in both of his legs.

Mahon revealed that he had been suffering from a severely clogged artery in his left thigh, a condition requiring angioplasty at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. While he had previously qualified for the procedure every two years, he was informed post-COVID that both arteries in both legs were now fully blocked. He was told that his next medical evaluation could lead to discussions about bypass surgery or even potential amputation, leaving him to seek private medical care abroad.

Facing the likelihood of losing his legs, Mahon traveled to Spain to undergo a procedure to fit stents. The total cost amounts to around €32,000, a sum he has said he has depleted his savings to cover. Among the public donations listed on the fundraiser was a £4,000 contribution from Tomlinson, which Mahon described as deeply meaningful, saying the support “means the world to me.”

Tomlinson’s generous gesture comes as he continues to receive positive attention for his music career. The singer, now 33, recently released a new single titled Palaces, taken from his album How Did I Get Here?. Fans and partner Zara McDermott praised the emotional track, with many listeners calling it one of his strongest releases. McDermott, who began dating Tomlinson earlier this year following her split from Sam Thompson, shared her support on Instagram, calling the song “incredible.” The couple, who went public over the summer, appear to be growing closer, with reports that McDermott has moved into Tomlinson’s home in north London.
