Charli XCX drops wild first trailer for A24 mockumentary ‘The Moment’

Charli XCX teases A24’s ‘The Moment’ in a self parody trailer about her Brat era and industry chaos

Charli XCX has released the first official trailer for her upcoming A24 film The Moment, unveiling a striking mix of fiction and reality with a healthy dose of self-parody. In the clip, she plays a fictionalised version of herself as she readies for an arena tour tied to her 2024 album Brat, navigating fame, pressure, and the absurdities of pop-star life.

Directed by Aidan Zamiri and co-written with Bertie Brandes, The Moment is billed as a “meta mockumentary.” Rather than being a traditional concert film or behind-the-scenes documentary, Charli describes it as entirely fictional, but grounded in very real industry emotions.

The trailer offers a surreal, high-energy ride: Charli rehearses punch-like dance moves in front of a mirror, flashes of neon-green strobes illuminate intense studio moments, and a mannequin dramatically shatters mid-rehearsal. In one scene she even asks, “Is that me?”, a line that underscores how the film blurs the lines between her pop persona and personal identity.

Standing out in the cast are names like Kylie Jenner (in what looks like her acting debut), Alexander Skarsgård, Rosanna Arquette, Jamie Demetriou, Kate Berlant, Hailey Benton Gates, Rachel Sennott, and others. Charli also serves as a producer through her Studio365 banner, showing how personal and close to her own life this project really is.

According to the trailer’s synopsis, the movie centres on the tension between art and commerce, capturing an artist who has built a massive world around her Brat brand and is now reckoning with what it means to be real. It’s loud, funny, and chaotic, but Charli’s comment about the film hits hard: “It’s not a tour documentary or a concert film … It’s fiction, but it’s the realest depiction of the music industry that I’ve ever seen.”

The teaser has already sparked excitement online, with fans calling it part satire, part emotional reveal. Some think it’s Charli’s most daring project yet, a full‑on pop-star reflection done on her own terms. The Moment is currently set to hit theatres on January 30, 2026 via A24.
