The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall on November 19, 2025.

It marked the Princess of Wales’ first appearance at the event since her recovery from cancer. Kate Middleton looked radiant in a green velvet gown, accompanied by Prince William in a classic black tuxedo.

On the red carpet, Kate spoke about her children, revealing they were “very sad” not to be at the performance.

She explained that children were not allowed to attend and added, “My kiddies were very sad, we’re going to have to keep it a big secret that I saw you guys.”

The royal couple were greeted by ITV board members and representatives from the Royal Variety Charity.

Kate received a posy from nine-year-old twins Emelia and Olivia Edwards, whose family works at Brinsworth House, a care home supported by the charity.

The Princess asked if the girls were fans of Paddington The Musical and shared a warm exchange with them.

Prince William complimented the girls on their appearance and chatted with Olivia about her favourite singer, Billie Eilish.

The evening was hosted by comedian Jason Manford and featured performances from Strictly Come Dancing’s Johannes Radebe, Jessie J, Laufey, Madness, and Sir Stephen Fry.

The grand finale included 400 performers, including Michael Ball, Matt Lucas, and Katy Secombe, in a medley celebrating the 40th anniversary of Les Misérables.

The annual Royal Variety Performance, first staged in 1912 for King George V and Queen Mary, raises funds for the Royal Variety Charity, which supports people working across the entertainment industry.

This year’s event included highlights from Paddington The Musical and a one-off performance from the Live Aid musical Just For One Day.

This marks the sixth time William and Kate have attended the event, highlighting their continued support for the Royal Variety Charity and the performing arts.
