KARACHI:

PTI Sindh chapter President Haleem Adil Sheikh has condemned the alleged mistreatment of former prime minister Imran Khan's sisters outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, terming it "the worst example of fascism" and a blatant violation of constitutional and human rights.

Speaking at a press conference at Insaf House Karachi, where he was flanked by PTI Central Deputy Secretary Information Azhar Laghari, party's Karachi General Secretary Arsalan Khalid, Senior Vice President Faheem Khan, and other party leaders, Haleem said that Imran's sisters had gone to meet their imprisoned brother when they were subjected to "severe cruelty."

According to him, Noreen Khan was allegedly dragged while Aleema Khan was manhandled by police officials. "They were abducted, taken away, and later dumped far from the location," he claimed. "This is a grave violation of the law, the Constitution, and basic human dignity." Haleem said resorting to violence against women only exposed the "weakness and moral collapse of the state."

"A sister visiting her brother and being mistreated like this is proof of the state's fear and its moral bankruptcy," he said. Haleem also said that the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments had "buried the Constitution" and eroded the rule of law. "Courts grant permission for meetings, yet jail officials refuse to comply with judges' orders," he said.

Announcing the party's next course of action, Haleem said the PTI Sindh, under the banner of the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aiyeen-e Pakistan, would stage nationwide protests on November 21 in coordination with allied political parties. Protesters will wear black armbands at press clubs across the country, he added.
