AAFX studio reveals unseen details about Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth's body replicas for 'Frankenstein'
'Frankenstein' attained 29.1 million views in its first three days on Netflix, topping the platform’s global film list

Applied Arts FX Studio recently revealed that they were initially tasked with producing two full-body dummies of Mia Goth for her role as Elizabeth in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.
The studio explained that, “These were meant to be ultra lightweight dummies for Jacob to carry, but he ultimately just carried her”.
Speaking about casting, Del Toro earlier discussed why Elordi was cast in the role following Andrew Garfield’s departure from the project.
He said his decision was shaped by the actor’s performance in Saltburn, explaining, “I saw ‘Saltburn,’ and I loved his innocence and openness. He plays the victim of a Tom Ripley-type of character, and I thought he played it with a lot of range. His character was also capable of being high class and cruel. Jacob’s eyes are so full of humanity. I cast him because of his eyes.”
The director highlighted that this balance of vulnerability and intensity aligned strongly with his interpretation of the character.
Frankenstein premiered on Netflix on November 7, 2025 after a limited theatrical run on October 17.
According to figures released by the streaming service, the film reached 29.1 million views within its first three days. It also ranked first on Netflix’s English-language film chart for the week and appeared in the Top 10 list in 93 countries, securing the top position in 72 markets.
The early performance places Frankenstein among Netflix’s most successful film debuts of 2025, reinforcing del Toro’s consistent ability to pair distinctive visual storytelling with strong global streaming appeal.
