Kristen Bell has praised Cynthia Erivo after a video circulated showing the British actress comforting a young fan during a Wicked: For Good event.
The moment followed an earlier incident at the Singapore premiere involving Ariana Grande, when a man jumped a barricade and grabbed the singer. Erivo continued engaging with attendees after the disruption.
The encounter, reshared by Bell, shows a young fan named Bella approaching the stage to greet Erivo. The clip captures Erivo standing from her seat to say hello as Bella becomes emotional. Erivo offered calming words and a hug during their exchange.
According to the original post, Bella told Erivo that the actress and her character in the Universal Pictures production had supported her through anxiety and panic attacks.
The post said, “Elphaba and the land of Oz were her strength in times when she needed it,” and thanked Erivo for her patience during the meeting.
Bella gifted Erivo a doll and a friendship bracelet, which the actress accepted. Erivo responded, “That’s such a good job today, babe,” adding, “Promise me something? You keep making brave decisions like this.” She also praised Bella’s mother for a “job well done” raising her.
Bell captioned her repost with, “There is simply no one kinder, gentler and driven by purpose than Cynthia Erivo.” Comments under the post reflected similar reactions, with one viewer noting how Erivo maintained eye contact and helped keep Bella calm.
The fan encounter came days after the incident involving Grande, during which Erivo was among the first to step in, drawing public acknowledgement of her actions.
