New Escape From Tarkov patch notes introduce significant reductions to enemy accuracy as Battlestate Games responds to ongoing player frustration with the latest hardcore wipe.
The update follows two months of complaints from players who described the behaviour of non-player enemies as similar to “aimbot” accuracy during the current wipe cycle.
Battlestate’s latest update delivers adjustments aimed at scaling back how quickly and precisely AI characters react. The patch arrives ahead of the confirmed Escape From Tarkov 1.0 release on Saturday, November 15, with studio head Nikita Buyanov previously suggesting that a Steam release could follow at a similar time.
One of the main concerns raised by players has been the speed and precision of AI attacks. Reports from the community noted that scavs, raiders, and bosses were capable of delivering instant headshots and displaying an awareness that players felt exceeded reasonable detection ranges.
The update outlines sweeping changes across a wide range of AI types, with Battlestate stating that the time AI soldiers take to detect enemies has been increased, both at first sight and after losing track of a target. Their aiming speed has been reduced, detection angles adjusted, and a fix has been applied for “the AI detection system through non-transparent obstacles in certain conditions.” AI characters will also no longer aim for the head if they have not seen the player for at least 15 seconds.
These nerfs apply to “regular bots of any difficulty, sniper scavs, raiders, rogues, PvE PMC bots, boss guards, and most of the bosses.” However, Battlestate notes that some bosses, including Zryachiy and Goons, will retain their previous field of view and reaction time.
Additional balance updates include increasing Flea Market offer slots to two, restoring the full item range for Peacekeeper and Jaeger LL4, and raising the experience multiplier for players who leave a raid with the “Killed in Action” or “Missing in Action” status.
Escape From Tarkov’s wider difficulty balance continues to generate discussion within the community, with players divided on how punishing AI behaviour should be.
