National Games torch lights up
CM also unveils logo of the games starting Dec 3

The metropolis saw a wave of excitement on Friday as Torch Relay Ceremony for the 35th National Games 2025 lit up the Mazar-e-Quaid, formally launching the countdown to Pakistan's biggest multi-sporting spectacle.
Students, Olympic representatives, and dignitaries watched as the Balochistan Olympic Association formally handed over the torch, officially transferring the hosting baton to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The CM passed the torch to provincial sports minister Mohammad Bux Khan Mahar, setting the flame upon its journey across the country. The torch will end its journey in Peshawar, the next host, then come back to the port city at the onset of the games starting from December 6.
The Chief Minister also unveiled the vibrant logo for the 35th National Games being held the city after 18 years.
"Karachi has the unparalleled honour to host the National Games after nearly two decades; therefore, it must be organised in a befitting and memorable manner," Shah declared with palpable pride.
In his address the Chief Minister said that Pakistan's youth, particularly young girls, possess remarkable courage and determination, adding that "we are proud of our children and their talent."
He said: "Today we stand before the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam, where Pakistan's first National Olympic event was held."
The Chief Minister recalled that the first National Olympics were inaugurated in Karachi in 1948 by the Founder of the Nation himself. "The first trophy was donated by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and to this day the champion receives the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy," he added.
Shah said that Karachi has hosted the highest number of National Games in the country's history, and expressed full confidence in the success of the upcoming edition.
