Nicki Minaj is facing another legal setback as her longtime attorney, Judd Burstein, has officially withdrawn from representing her in a defamation lawsuit filed by a former fan, Tameer Peak.

The legal dispute stems from a 2024 Stationhead broadcast, during which Peak alleges Minaj publicly humiliated him with offensive remarks.

According to Us Weekly, business management company The Northstar Group recently informed the court that Nicki Minaj had hired them and requested additional time to respond to the lawsuit. The firm stated that the extra time would allow Minaj to “retain and onboard” new legal counsel following Burstein’s sudden departure.

“That same day, Mr. Burstein abruptly withdrew entirely from his representation of [Minaj and her company], without giving any prior notice,” the letter read. “They intend to appear and defend themselves in this matter and are requesting a stay of proceedings to find new counsel and prepare a proper response.”

Burstein, who successfully had the initial case dismissed in New Jersey before it was refiled in New York, declined to elaborate on his decision to part ways. “After I won a dismissal of Tameer Peak’s defamation lawsuit against Nicki in New Jersey, I declined the opportunity to represent her when Peak refiled it in New York,” he said. “I believe it would be inappropriate to discuss the reasons why I chose to decline the representation.”

Nicki Minaj, currently on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, has yet to publicly comment on the matter. The case remains active as her new management team works to secure legal representation in New York.
