Half-Life 3 rumours rise after Valve lists unannounced title on Steam developer page
Half-Life 3 speculation has resurfaced after an unlisted title appeared on Valve’s official Steam developer page, sparking intense discussion among fans following the company’s recent Steam Machine announcement.
The discovery was made by a ResetEra user who noticed that Valve’s “Upcoming Releases” section now lists two projects instead of one.
While the first is Deadlock, a third-person shooter currently in early development, the second remains completely hidden. No title, imagery, or links have been provided, but the listing confirms a second unreleased Valve game exists on the platform.
The lack of information has led fans to speculate that this mystery project could be Half-Life 3. Comments on forums range from excitement to scepticism, with one user writing, “Half-Life 3 confirmed for GabeCube,” while another noted that the hidden listing “has been there for months.”
The timing of the discovery aligns with Valve’s unveiling of new hardware, including the Steam Machine PC-console hybrid, an updated Steam Controller, and the Steam Frame VR headset, all expected to launch in 2026. This has prompted concern that any potential Half-Life sequel could be a VR-exclusive experience, similar to Half-Life: Alyx.
However, given that the Steam Frame is designed to support both VR and non-VR gaming, some believe Half-Life 3 could serve as a flagship launch title compatible across platforms.
While Valve has not commented on the listing, previous statements from Half-Life designer Robin Walker suggested there “definitely wouldn’t be another 13-year wait” between titles.
Combined with ongoing rumours of a playable version and recent Source 2 engine updates, many fans view the unlisted project as a potential sign that Half-Life 3 development may finally be underway.
