Jujutsu Kaisen warns of $65,000 fine and prison for pirating new film Execution
The creators of Jujutsu Kaisen have issued a strong warning to fans following reports of illegal recordings from its new compilation film Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution.
The anime’s official X account stated that anyone caught filming or sharing footage from the movie could face penalties of up to ten years in prison or fines of up to 10 million yen (£52,000 / $65,000) under Japan’s Film Piracy Prevention Law.
The post, shared in English to reach international audiences, read: “The illegally recorded images and video footage of the current screening of Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution has been found on the internet. Filming a movie inside a theatre is a crime under the Law for Prevention of Unauthorized Recording of Films.”
It added, “Uploading such unauthorised recordings to platforms like X, YouTube, TikTok, or Facebook constitutes copyright infringement. If copyright infringement occurs, penalties may include up to 10 years imprisonment, or a fine of up to 10 million yen, or both.”
The statement urged viewers to “refrain from any unauthorised recording, posting or sharing” to ensure everyone can enjoy the film safely.
Execution premiered in Japan on November 7 2025, quickly reaching the top of the local box office. The film bridges the events of Season 2’s Shibuya Incident arc and the upcoming Culling Game arc, while also confirming that Season 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen will debut on January 8 2026.
Fans largely supported the anti-piracy message, with many emphasising the importance of respecting creators’ work. However, some criticised the staggered international release, arguing that delayed access fuels piracy.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution will release in US cinemas on December 5 2025, with other regions expected to follow.
