KARACHI:

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said on Monday that under the K-IV project, water pipelines are being laid along the same route to avoid repeated road excavations in the future.

He described the K-IV project as an important step toward resolving Karachi's long-term water issues. In a statement from the Chief Minister's House, Murad Ali Shah said that providing clean and adequate water to Karachi residents is the government's top priority.

Under the K-IV project, construction work is underway from Aziz Bhatti Park to Urdu University, with only a 300-metre section temporarily closed. The Chief Minister has instructed that alternative routes be provided for public convenience during this period.

Once the stretch from Aziz Bhatti Park to Urdu University is completed, the road will be restored, and work will proceed to the next phase. Pipelines of 9.6 and 7.2 inches in diameter are being laid from Aziz Bhatti Park to Hassan Square to meet the city's growing future water needs.

The Chief Minister noted that laying these pipelines alongside the Red Line project aims to reduce public inconvenience caused by repeated excavations. The pipelines are being laid from the under-construction Bahria Town Water Filtration Plant to Gulbai.

Due to the temporary closure of the road from Aziz Bhatti Park to Urdu University, traffic disruptions are possible. The Chief Minister has instructed traffic police to guide citizens and ensure smooth traffic flow, especially during peak hours in the morning and evening.

He emphasised that every effort will be made to ensure public convenience during the project and appealed to residents to cooperate by using alternative routes. He added that these temporary inconveniences will pave the way for long-term benefits.

The K-IV project will be completed swiftly, with strict supervision according to the Water Board's schedule. The govt apologises for any inconvenience caused.
