Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has lifted the ban on appointments, transfers, and recruitment of government employees, which had been imposed earlier due to delays in cabinet formation.

The ban, originally imposed by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, has now been revoked following the formation of the provincial cabinet. Transfers of positions at grade 17 and above will require approval from the relevant administrative secretary, minister, advisor, or special assistant.

The chief minister has also directed that the recruitment process be resumed and conducted strictly on merit. He emphasised that these instructions must be implemented rigorously.

The ban was initially imposed when Chief Minister Afridi took oath but was unable to form his cabinet due to pending meetings with the party’s founding chairman. Subsequently, following the chairman’s guidance, the cabinet was formed, and advisors and special assistants were appointed, paving the way for the lifting of restrictions.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Afridi has appointed Provincial Minister for Local Government Mina Khan Afridi as a member of the search committee for the nomination of Public Service Commission members and chairman, an official notification issued by the Establishment Department confirmed.
