American YouTuber Tyler Oliveira has released his 30-minute documentary on India’s Gorehabba festival in Karnataka, where participants throw cow dung as part of a Hindu ritual honouring the deity Beereshwara Swamy.

The festival, held annually in Gummatapura village after Diwali, has become the focus of international attention following the film’s release.

Oliveira had earlier claimed he would not publish the footage due to online harassment, doxxing, and death threats.

However, on Monday, he released the documentary on social media, where it quickly went viral, surpassing two million views within 24 hours. The video has since sparked widespread debate on cultural representation, rural traditions, and the limits of free expression.

Defending his decision, Oliveira shared a series of posts on X. The filmmaker framed the release as an act of defiance and commitment to documenting global cultures without censorship.
