The family of PML-N Senator Irfan ul Haq Siddiqui has rejected claims circulating on social media that the veteran parliamentarian has been put on a ventilator, confirming instead that he is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) for breathing-related complications.
Clarifying his condition on Monday, the family said that while Siddiqui’s respiratory issues required a shift to the ICU, doctors have not deemed ventilator support necessary. They added that his vital signs remain stable and medical staff are closely monitoring his progress.
Rumours regarding the senator’s health began circulating earlier in the day, prompting concern among party colleagues and supporters. The family stressed that unverified reports had created unnecessary alarm and asked the public to rely only on information shared officially by relatives or medical professionals.
Siddiqui has been admitted to a local hospital in Islamabad for the past several days. The nature of the respiratory problem requiring treatment has not been publicly disclosed.
