A heartwarming Grinch reunion took fans by surprise this week as Jim Carrey reunited with his former child co-star Taylor Momsen, 25 years after the release of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
The emotional meeting took place at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in Los Angeles, according to The New York Post.
The event was held at the Peacock Theatre, where Carrey and Momsen posed for photos together, marking their first public reunion in a quarter century. The two last worked together in the 2000 holiday classic, in which Carrey famously portrayed the Grinch and Momsen played Cindy Lou Who, the kind-hearted girl from Whoville.
Now 31, Momsen is the lead vocalist of the rock band The Pretty Reckless. Her transformation from child star to rock frontwoman left fans nostalgic yet amazed by her evolution. Carrey reportedly expressed surprise at how much time had passed since they last met.
The 2000 film remains one of the most beloved holiday movies ever made, with Carrey once calling the role a “lucky thing” in his career. According to Reuters, he’s proud the movie continues to be part of families’ Christmas traditions.
Momsen recently reflected on her experience filming The Grinch during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, sharing that Carrey was “super funny” and “protective,” never frightening her despite his intense makeup.
The Jim Carrey and Taylor Momsen reunion serves as a touching reminder of The Grinch’s timeless charm and its lasting impact across generations of fans.
