Comedian and actress Nikki Glaser made her long-awaited hosting debut on Saturday Night Live on November 8, joined by first-time musical guest Sombr.
The stand-up star opened the episode with a confident Monologue reflecting on fame, relationships, and the awkwardness of everyday life. Her quick wit and timing earned an enthusiastic audience response, setting a lively tone for the evening.
The Cold Open featured James Austin Johnson reprising his role as Donald Trump, commenting on recent elections and political controversies. Glaser then took the stage for her monologue, blending self-deprecating humour with topical jokes about beauty standards, dating, and celebrity culture.
Among the standout sketches was Karaoke Night, where Glaser and Sarah Sherman performed a hilariously intimate duet of I’ll Make Love to You as bickering siblings. In Spirit Tunnel Anxiety, celebrities faced panic before appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show, a biting take on talk show appearances. Another highlight, Mr. Beast, saw Glaser encounter a YouTube version of the classic fairytale monster.
Sombr performed twice, first with an upbeat funk-inspired track in a striking red suit, and later with "Back to Friends", a smooth synth-pop number from his debut album I Barely Know Her.
The Weekend Update segment saw Michael Che and Colin Jost cover election results and government shutdown jokes, with Pete Davidson returning for a guest appearance that drew strong laughs.
Closing sketches included Mechanical Bull and Anna, both showcasing Glaser’s versatility and sharp comedic instincts. Cast members Mikey Day, Sarah Sherman, and Jeremy Culhane delivered strong performances alongside her.
