FAISALABAD:

Around 4,000 students from the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) have been sent to agricultural fields across six divisions of Punjab to help farmers with wheat cultivation under a campaign running from November 8 to 16.

The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Punjab Agriculture Extension Department, aims to boost wheat productivity by 2 to 3 maunds per acre.

Working under the supervision of agricultural experts, students will provide farmers with hands-on guidance on certified seeds, balanced fertilizer use, and modern cultivation techniques.

Speaking at the inauguration, UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Zulfiqar Ali said the drive not only equips students with practical field experience but also supports farmers in adopting scientific practices for higher yields.

He called the campaign a model partnership between academia and the agriculture department and urged students to work patiently with farmers to better understand on-ground challenges.

Dr Zulfiqar Ali also inaugurated wheat sowing on 1,000 acres of university land, reaffirming UAF's commitment to agricultural research and development.
