Rescue workers have found the bodies of four women who drowned after their wagon fell into the Sutlej River.
The wagon’s passengers were on their way to a picnic. 15 people were rescued, including nine women, six children and the driver of the wagon. The vehicle was heading for Kehror Pakka, in the district of Lodhran. Police tried to control residents who crowded the area while the rescue operation was still ongoing.
Residents became violent when they were told to leave. The ensuing melee led to the injury of a constable as police officials were forced to withdraw from the scene.
