GTA 6 insider denies delay caused by firings, says game is “content complete”

GTA 6 insider claims Rockstar’s layoffs had no impact on the game’s delay, insisting development is complete

A trusted insider has denied that Rockstar Games’ recent layoffs are behind the latest delay of Grand Theft Auto 6, insisting that the highly anticipated game is already “content complete.”

On November 6, Rockstar officially announced a new release date for GTA 6, pushing the game’s launch to November 19, 2026. The delay came shortly after protests erupted outside the developer’s Edinburgh office and Take-Two Interactive’s London branch, following the termination of around 30–40 employees. Reports suggest that the fired developers were accused of leaking project details, while the workers themselves claimed the firings were part of an alleged “union-busting” effort.

Speculation quickly spread that these layoffs contributed to the game’s delay, but industry insider Kiwi Talkz dismissed the rumor. In a recent post, they clarified that the two events are unrelated, reaffirming that GTA 6 is “content complete” and nearing its final stages of development.

“I want to clarify a few things regarding GTA 6, since a lot of BS is circulating around,” Kiwi Talkz stated. “The union layoffs in the UK and the delay are not related. There are 6,000+ employees working at Rockstar — you aren’t delaying a game over 35 people getting laid off.”

While Rockstar has not issued an official explanation for the delay, Kiwi Talkz’s comments suggest that the studio is now focused on final polish and optimization ahead of GTA 6’s long-awaited 2026 launch.
