Use of impounded car questioned

ISLAMABAD:

A division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), comprising Justice Babar Sattar and Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, issued contempt of court show-cause notices to the Collector of Customs and the Member Legal Customs for using a vehicle seized in Islamabad under the Commissioner of Inland Revenue, Karachi.

The court sought an inquiry report with an affidavit on the order to remove the vehicle's original number plate and replace it with a fake one.

The court also issued a notice to Commissioner Inland Revenue Taimur Durrani through the FBR chairman, summoning him in person.

During proceedings, customs collector admitted that the vehicle was brought to the IHC with a fake number plate.
