A woman was murdered with an iron rod in Khanewal's suburban area after allegedly refusing to engage in illicit relations with the attacker.
According to a complaint lodged at the Sarai Sidhu Police Station, the incident occurred in village Hashmat, where the victim, Jahan Begum, had gone to the fields early in the morning.
The complainant, her husband Qasoor Abbas, stated that accused Abdul Sattar, accompanied by an accomplice, ambushed her and struck her repeatedly with an iron rod, killing her on the spot before fleeing.
The FIR further revealed that the suspect had been harassing the victim for a long time, pressuring her to enter into an illicit relationship.
Three years ago, Sattar had allegedly raped Jahan Begum, for which a case was registered at the same police station.
Police have shifted the body to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kabirwala for post-mortem examination and registered a fresh murder case against the accused. Raids are underway to apprehend the suspects.
