Netflix has unveiled the first look and teaser for Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, an upcoming animated spinoff set between Seasons 2 and 3 of the hit sci-fi franchise.

The new series reimagines the world of Hawkins, Indiana, as fans return to the winter of 1985 to face fresh supernatural threats lurking in the Upside Down.

The official logline reads: “Welcome back to Hawkins in the stark winter of 1985, where the original characters must fight new monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorizing their town.”

While Stranger Things regulars like Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, and David Harbour won’t be reprising their roles, a new generation of voice actors will step in. Brooklyn Davey Norstedt voices Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport is Max, Luca Diaz is Mike, EJ (Elisha) Williams is Lucas, Braxton Quinney is Dustin, Ben Plessala is Will, and Brett Gipson takes on Hopper. Additional cast members include Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips.

The series is showrun by Eric Robles, with Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer serving as executive producers alongside Hilary Leavitt via Upside Down Pictures, Shawn Levy, and Dan Cohen through 21 Laps.

“When we started talking about expanding Stranger Things, this was one of our first ideas,” the Duffer Brothers said. “We wanted it to feel like an ’80s Saturday morning cartoon. With animation, there are no limits.”

Robles added, “We’ve captured the magic of Hawkins in a whole new way. So get your flashlight and backpack — it’s going to be amazing.”

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 arrives on Netflix in 2026.
