Overcooked reality competition series coming to Netflix from A24 and Ghost Town Games

A24 is producing a Netflix reality show based on the co-op cooking game Overcooked, with input from its creators

A24 has announced that it will produce a reality competition series based on the popular co-op cooking game Overcooked, which will stream exclusively on Netflix.

The production marks A24’s first venture into unscripted television. Known for acclaimed series such as Euphoria, Ramy, and Beef, the studio is now expanding into reality programming with a show inspired by the fast-paced, team-based chaos of the hit indie title.

Developed by Ghost Town Games, Overcooked tasks players with collaborating to prepare and serve dishes in increasingly unpredictable environments — from air balloons and moving trucks to haunted kitchens. The Netflix adaptation will aim to capture that same frantic energy in real life.

According to Deadline, the Overcooked show will share a similar tone to Netflix’s existing unscripted hits like Nailed It! and Floor is Lava, blending competitive challenges with humour and teamwork.

Executive producers Gemma Langford, Oli De-Vine, and Phil Duncan from Ghost Town Games will also be involved in bringing the series to life.

While plot and release details have not yet been confirmed, fans have already taken to social media to express excitement — and curiosity — about how the chaotic kitchen antics will translate to a live-action competition.

One fan joked, “So we get to watch friendships be destroyed over cooking? I’m in.” Another added, “Please tell me they’re actually gonna have the conveyor belts.”

The Overcooked adaptation follows a growing trend of video game properties being developed for television and film. Earlier this year, A24 also announced plans to produce a feature film based on Elden Ring, the 2022 Game of the Year.

Neither Netflix nor A24 have commented further on the show’s release timeline at the time of writing.
