A long-running paternity case involving rapper Jay-Z was dismissed with prejudice by a California court on Tuesday, effectively ending years of litigation over allegations that he fathered a man named Rymir Satterthwaite.

According to Daily Mail reporters Adam S. Levy and Eileen Reslen, the case was brought by Lillie Coley, who identified herself as the godmother and legal guardian of Satterthwaite, now in his early 30s. Coley claimed that Jay-Z, 55, had a relationship in the mid-1990s with Wanda Satterthwaite, Rymir’s late mother, who passed away in 2019.

Court filings cited by the Daily Mail indicate that Wanda Satterthwaite pursued paternity proceedings for nearly two decades in New Jersey and Pennsylvania before the case was eventually transferred to California. The recent ruling from the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California concluded the matter, stating that it was “suitable for decision without oral argument.”

Coley alleged in court documents that Jay-Z and his legal team had misused the judicial process for more than ten years by relying on sealed orders, false filings, and procedural maneuvers. Representatives for Jay-Z, who is married to singer Beyoncé, did not respond to requests for comment from Daily Mail.

In past interviews with the outlet, Satterthwaite said his only wish was for the Empire State of Mind artist to take a DNA test, emphasizing that he sought “truth, not money.” He expressed frustration that the case had continued for so long, especially after his mother’s death, saying he simply wanted closure.

The court’s dismissal with prejudice prevents the case from being refiled, bringing an end to a dispute that has spanned multiple states and more than a decade.
