Nawat Itsaragrisil breaks down in tears amid public apology for Miss Universe 2025 scandal
Miss Universe Thailand executive Nawat Itsaragrisil broke down in tears in public while apologising for the controversy where he confronted Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch over her absence in a sponsored shoot, which led to her and other delegates walking out from the event in protest.
Itsaragrisil allegedly also called her “dumb,” and after Bosch objected to his remarks, he called the security on her.
In an another clip, he reportedly invited all the candidates who had walked out to return “except Mexico,” claiming that “she’s talking too much".
Since the incident, Itsaragrisil has apologized twice but has yet to apologise personally to Bosch.
Taking the stage amid tears, he pleaded for forgiveness for the third time and addressed the contestants and media during the welcome ceremony. “I want to apologize to everyone. I had no idea how big this issue would become,” he said, visibly distressed.
Viewers remain unconvinced about the sincerity of the Thai director's apology especially since, clips surfaced of the ceremony where he asks the contestants, "Are you happy now?".
Earlier, Itsaragrisil went live on his TikTok page and clarified the situation, claiming that several candidates allegedly refused to film videos for the pageant's sponsors. Despite these problems, he emphasised that he intends to meet the Miss Universe Organistion executives to discuss the recent incident and has also apologized to the delegates who remained in the conference hall during the ceremony.
Nevertheless, Itsaragrisil's actions have evoked condemnations from Miss Universe Mexico and MUO Presiden Raul Rocha.
Rocha also confirmed that Itsaragrisil's participation in the upcoming Miss Universe 2025 events has been restricted and that the limitations could result in his entire access being revoked despite his position as MUO's Executive Director.
