Dengue claims eight lives in five days of Nov

Positivity rate hits 38% in Hyd; 1,130 contract virus in last 24 hours across Sindh

In the past 24 hours, 5,511 dengue tests were conducted across Sindh, yielding 1,130 positive cases. Karachi accounted for 527 cases from 3,937 tests, while Hyderabad saw 603 positives from 1,574 tests.

In the first five days of November, dengue claimed eight more lives, six in Hyderabad, and one each in Karachi and Tando Allahyar.

Dengue continues to spread across Sindh, with 21 deaths and 9,638 confirmed cases reported so far this year. Of these, 4,540 cases and nine deaths were recorded in Karachi.

According to the Sindh Health Department, 13 deaths occurred in October alone, including fatalities in Karachi's Malir (3), East and West districts (2 each), and Korangi (1). Hyderabad reported four deaths and Tando Muhammad Khan one.

Health Secretary Rehan Baloch said 129 new patients were admitted to public hospitals and 126 to private facilities. One death was reported in the last 24 hours. Currently, 251 dengue patients are hospitalized in public hospitals and 264 in private ones. Sindh has allocated 979 beds for dengue patients in public hospitals-256 in Karachi, 165 in Hyderabad, and 558 in other districts. Private hospitals have 459 beds-185 in Karachi, 208 in Hyderabad, and 66 elsewhere.
