LAHORE:

In a series of coordinated operations, Lahore police and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have dismantled several criminal gangs involved in burglaries, honey trap schemes, and extortion scams — some of which shockingly included serving and former police officials.

According to officials, Chung police busted a burglary gang that included serving Constable Ali Haider and dismissed officer Rahat Ali, along with other accomplices.

The suspects were allegedly involved in a string of house burglaries in residential areas.

Police recovered a stolen vehicle, jewellery worth millions of rupees, cash, and illegal weapons from their possession.

A spokesperson confirmed that the arrested officers were part of an organised network that exploited their knowledge of police procedures to evade detection.

In a separate operation, Nawan Town police apprehended three members of a gang allegedly involved in honey trap incidents.

The suspects — identified as Raza, Khurram, and Suleman, used fake online discount offers to lure unsuspecting victims.

According to SP Saddar Rana Hussain Tahir, the gang operated through social media platforms and online marketplaces, offering "too-good-to-be-true" deals to attract buyers.

Once victims reached the designated location to collect their purchases, the suspects would rob them of their cash and valuables.

Cases have been registered against all arrested suspects, and investigations are underway to trace other members of the network and recover additional stolen property.
