Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone are teaming up to give Miss Piggy her long-awaited spotlight on the big screen.

According to sources, Disney is developing a new Miss Piggy movie with Cole Escola, the Tony Award–winning writer and star of Broadway’s hit comedy Oh, Mary!, set to pen the screenplay.

Lawrence revealed the news during her appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, saying, “I don’t know if I can announce this but I am just going to … Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie and Cole is writing it.” When asked if she and Stone might co-star, Lawrence teased, “I think so. We have to. It’s messed up that we haven’t done a movie together yet.”

The project is still in early development, but excitement is already building. The film marks a fresh take on the iconic Muppets character, known for her glamorous personality and diva energy. With Disney owning the Muppets franchise, the new Miss Piggy movie could signal a major revival for the beloved puppet series.

Lawrence also shared that she had once considered joining Escola’s Oh, Mary! on Broadway, where she hoped to play Mary Todd Lincoln, but decided against it after realizing the demands of live theater. “It’s eight shows a week and six weeks of rehearsal,” she said. “I was like, ‘Do you have daycare there?’ It just wouldn’t have worked.”

Currently, Lawrence is promoting her upcoming psychological drama Die My Love opposite Robert Pattinson, while Stone continues to balance producing and acting in several high-profile projects.
