Fans have voiced disappointment after Taylor Swift’s track The Fate of Ophelia was used in a new White House TikTok video featuring President Donald Trump and his administration.

The clip, released on the official account, drew attention for being soundtracked by Swift’s chart-topping single.

The decision reignited debate due to Trump’s prior remarks about the singer. Earlier this year, he wrote on Truth Social, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’”

His comments followed Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential campaign, a move that had already drawn criticism from Trump supporters.

Despite this, the White House defended the TikTok, telling Variety, “We made this video because we knew fake news media brands like Variety would breathlessly amplify them. Congrats, you got played.”

Representatives for Swift have not responded to requests for comment.

Fans, however, have been vocal online, questioning her lack of response and urging action. One comment read, “If her team doesn’t send a cease and desist by the end of the week, I want Taylor Swift fans to stop pretending she’s not conservative.” Another added, “I had really hoped she’d have it taken down by now and the fact that she hasn’t… pretty embarrassing for Miss I need to be on the right side of history.”

As comparisons circulate with artists like Beyoncé and Olivia Rodrigo, who previously removed their songs from pro-Trump content, many continue to watch whether Swift’s team will address the issue.
