A new biopic about film icon Audrey Hepburn has officially found its lead. Thomasin McKenzie, known for Jojo Rabbit and Last Night in Soho, has been cast as Hepburn in Dinner With Audrey.

The film will chronicle Hepburn’s 40-year friendship and creative collaboration with French designer Count Hubert de Givenchy.

As reported by Deadline, McKenzie will star alongside Ansel Elgort, who will portray Givenchy, while two-time Oscar nominee Michael Shannon is in discussions to join the project.

The film is directed by Abe Sylvia, whose credits include Palm Royale, Dead to Me, and The Eyes of Tammy Faye. The story unfolds over one evening in Paris, capturing the moment that sparked Hepburn and Givenchy’s lifelong artistic partnership. Their relationship produced some of Hepburn’s most celebrated looks in films such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Funny Face, Charade, and Sabrina.

Screenwriter Kara Holden, known for Clouds and Carrie Pilby, has penned the script. The film will be produced by Ashok Amritraj and Priya Amritraj under Hyde Park Entertainment, along with Mad Chance and Wayfarer Studios.

Hepburn and Givenchy first met in 1953, beginning a friendship that lasted until her passing in 1993. Givenchy later honoured her with the book To Audrey With Love, published in 1995.

Although Lily Collins had long been fan-cast for the role due to her resemblance to Hepburn, McKenzie’s nuanced acting style and quiet poise have earned attention as a fitting portrayal for the role.

Dinner With Audrey will celebrate Hepburn’s legacy and her timeless influence on fashion and film.
