Rapper NLE The Great, formerly known as NLE Choppa, revealed that his recent YoungBoy Never Broke Again diss track, “KO,” was inspired by a vivid dream that he believes was divinely sent. Speaking to Rolling Stone, the Memphis-born artist shared that the vision marked a turning point in both his spiritual path and musical evolution.

According to NLE, he was “awakened out of his sleep” by a disturbing dream in which he held a young boy’s head and presented it to his father. The imagery, though gruesome, led him to prayer, where he said he received divine guidance to create the record. “I never want to feel like my devotion is questioned,” he explained. “The steps were ordered, and I did them.”

The diss track, which samples 2Pac’s “Hit ’Em Up,” takes aim at YoungBoy’s influence on fans, with NLE positioning himself as a figure of spiritual accountability rather than animosity. “It’s not him personally,” he said. “It’s what’s controlling him... I would love to give that brother a hug. I love him, but I had to be the revelation in this situation.”

NLE also discussed his recent name change, saying it symbolizes growth and alignment with a higher purpose. “Choppa represented ruthlessness,” he noted. “Now I’m learning how to use that energy for truth. The Great reflects progress and purpose.”

Beyond the feud, the rapper touched on his faith, upbringing, and relationship with his father, with whom he has reconciled after years of emotional distance. “Forgiveness started the healing,” he said. “We’re both growing.”

NLE concluded by affirming confidence in his upcoming album, calling it a global statement: “Number one — that’s all. That’s it. Number one in the whole world.”
