PkMAP slams 'discriminatory actions'

Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) leader Dr Mehboob Khan Yousafzai has condemned what he called "ongoing injustices, discriminatory actions, and human rights violations against the Pashtun community" across Sindh, particularly in Karachi.

Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday, Dr Yousafzai said that the targeting of Pashtun businesses, hotels, and properties under the guise of anti-encroachment operations was a "blatant violation of human rights." He added that singling out a particular community amounted to racial prejudice, which the PkMAP strongly condemns.

He also criticised the imposition of e-challans without the provision of basic civic facilities, describing it as an "anti-people policy." He said issuing fines despite the city's poor road conditions, inadequate traffic management, and lack of essential services placed an unfair burden on citizens.

Dr Yousafzai alleged that local Pashtuns were being harassed under the pretext of identifying Afghan nationals. "Declaring Pashtun shopkeepers, labourers, traders, and students as suspicious merely because of their ethnicity is both unconstitutional and unethical," he said.
