Two years after the global success of Godzilla Minus One, Toho Studios has officially announced its sequel, Godzilla Minus Zero.

The reveal took place during Tokyo’s Godzilla Fest 2025, where the film’s title and first logo were unveiled.

Director Takashi Yamazaki, who helmed the acclaimed Minus One, will return to write, direct, and handle visual effects for Minus Zero.

The new logo, created by Yamazaki himself, features bold brush strokes similar to those used in the previous film’s design.

While specific story and release date details have not yet been announced, the sequel is expected to directly follow the events of Minus One.

The announcement also confirms Toho’s continued investment in expanding the Godzilla franchise after the major success of the 2023 film, which grossed $113 million worldwide on a modest $10–15 million budget.

Godzilla Minus One received widespread critical acclaim, holding a 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes and earning the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, the first Asian film to do so.

Yamazaki previously hinted that he was developing a new story and screenplay with a larger budget from Toho.

Alongside Minus Zero, fans can also look forward to the MonsterVerse film Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, set for release on March 26, 2027.

For now, excitement continues to build around Yamazaki’s return and what’s next for Toho’s iconic kaiju.
