Mureedwala police have arrested a man on charges of burning the Holy Quran and registered a case against him under Pakistan Penal Code Section 295-B.
Akram, 45, is known in his area as the “magic master.”
On Tuesday, Akram and his client went to a graveyard where he started chanting what he claimed were “magic words” over a script of the Holy Quran. He then allegedly set the holy book on fire.
His clients responded violently and protested against Akram’s action. A number of people who were passing by the area also assembled at the scene and severely thrashed Akram, accusing him of desecrating the Quran. Someone from the crowd also informed the police who arrested Akram from the spot. A police case was registered against Akram on the complaint of villager Muhammad Sarfraz. Akram has been presented before the area’s judicial magistrate who sent him on a 14-day judicial remand and adjourned hearing for two weeks.

This is hilarious. Reading comments from grown men and women arguing over Santa and the Easter Bunny. Oh, sorry, I mean the Tooth Fairy and Loch Nest Monster, oops; i mean Bigfoot and Peter Pan... I hope you get my drift. Grow up, read some science books and try living in the real world. You are all deluded by fantasy and need to get a grip on reality. While ever the insanity of religions continues, people will die and be hurt. As the saying goes: good people do good things and bad people do bad things, but for good people to do bad things you need religion.
@Anthony Permal: Mr.Anthony it is not just a piece of printed paper for us in islam OK. And yes asad is right the word of GOD the Quran al Kareem is more beloved than our children and anyone.And is you think that is funny or insane i suggest u keep ur comments to your self on our beliefs.
@Asad: What about the the other three major faiths - Christianity,Hinduism & Budhism?Islam has a lot in common with Judaism & Chritianity.So please have some respect for others.
On several points..I cant agree more with you Anthony. Our lot is such who would not think twice about taking bribes, or doing drugs, killing or burning a human being alive is just like buying grocery now. Many of the so called lovers of Islam, Quran and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) dont really care about the teachings as long as its about earning profits, every thing becomes legal and religiously permissible.
Respect Quran but don't read it or ever try to understand leave alone practice what is written, respect the prophet but never pay head to what he taught. Patience, and fair system of justice are the two things of past, part of a fairy tale it seems in this land of pure. Every thing good has been replaced with emotions and barbaric trends. Every now and then we see over zealous "Muslims" and self proclaimed soldiers of Islam indulging in the most shameful of acts.
And as far as blashpemy laws are concerned, Salman Taseer tried to talk about the process improvement and he couldn't live to tell the tale, not many were surprised when killer got hailed as a hero. When killers are praised and idealized, the innocent must run.
Mullah brigade or the so called socialists, every one wants piece of the cake, give them that and every one stays busy, oh sorry i forgot the hunger is never ending.
Sorry state of affairs.
p.s. lets not make it a debate on how Islam or its teachings are superior and followers of every other religion should bow down or be destroyed. wasnt this the land of pure made so the nation can be free of the biases of cast and creed, sects and religion? Oh dont answer that!
@Asad:
'Severe punishment'?
I'm sorry but I think it is absolutely ridiculous that someone would value some printed paper over the life of a human. I honestly cannot believe God is sitting on a throne in heaven saying 'you burned the Quran? You're going to be in hell forever!' to his own children!
@Asad:
Did you just say a book is more valuable than living children? :O
My conversation with you is over. Good bye.
@Anthony Permal:
Agree with first part of your comment. Law should not be taken in your hands. However we do not need to repeal this law. We need to make sure it is implemented correctly and incidents are investigated properly. But that can be said for any law, for Pakistan in this case and for every country in general. Laws do get abused and innocent people do get punished in this world, from minor crimes to capital punishment. Hate and Blasphemy laws are in place for a reason. There are places where denying holocaust can land you in jail or insulting certain personality in the country can get you jail. Those laws are there to respect majority population and preventing anarchy and anger. Insulting, abusing or desecration is not a fundamental human right.
@asad, I think comparing burning a copy of a book and burning children is equal then i can happily say you have gone nuts..Just check in youtube and see you if you can control any of those burning books video..If you think you can try it ..My advice to you is ...Chill !! If you believe in Allah ,Allah can take care of all these videos or people who does things...You can go focus on doing your daily work whatever it is!!
@Anthony
If someone burned your Children, or Parents or other Family members. How will you feel? You will go nuts and desperately ask for the punishment of the Criminals or even kill them yourself, if you have no hope of getting justice.
If another person says- Whats the big deal your close family died? The world's population is over 6 billion- so no big deal if all your family (a few people) have been killed. How would you feel then? It would be your belief/love for your family versus another person's view/freedom of speech about how unimportant your family is to this world. But you will want to smash that person for his callous and mean views.
In the same way, the Glorious Quran is dearer to 1.5 Billion muslims, than their own family members. So if the so called 'full of humanity' non muslims really have human feelings then they will respect the feelings of 1.5 Billion fellow human beings, rather than justifying the action of the Devils who burn God's word and criticizing the muslims response of asking punishment for those perpetrators.
@asad, You can have so many adjectives of what you believe about a particular book and suggesting if its following from a mountain ,the mountain would have trembled .Please remember that this level of belief may not be shared by another human in this planet until you explain in this way and then one can understand one thing.How much this means to you ..Thats it . So if there are 100000 copies of it right now and 3/4 of the human population say 4000000 humans in this earth they might not have the same view as you believe for that copy they get hold of.. So its purely based on one's belief vs another view !!! about the same book..Got it ?
@Anthony Permal
Go and read the Holy Quran's translation with an unbiased mind and you will understand that Islam is the only Divine religion, preached by Prophets Ibrahim, Musa, Isa and Muhammad (Saw). (Peace be upon them all)
But then, Allah says in the holy Quran that only those people whom ALLAH wills, shall accept the only divine religion- Islam (Peace acquired by submitting your will to the one and only Lord of the heavens and earth)
@Mark: Burning of Bible,Quran or any religious book does not burn the Divinity of these books,because they are all revered by the majority of humankind.So cool down man!
@Anthony Permal: Well i bet if someone is burning a bible here in U.K people will beats him up also. this is natural mate. Would u stay in control if someone burns ur house in front of u??????
NO ONE IS STUPID TO BURN THIER HOLY BOOK.
DO AWAY WITH THIS LAW & THEY WILL BE PEACE
The Glorious Quran- Word of the Lord of the Heavens and Earth. If the Quran had been sent down on a mountain, the mountain would have crumbled. Its a guidance for those who believe and a warning for those who disbelieve.
This Magician should be given a severe punishment for this crime of his. The non muslim commentors supporting this Magician's actions should be ashamed of their extremism and lack of respect for Islam (The only divine religion, which is followed by a quarter of the Earth's Population)
Unbelievable!!
He has to be punished hard for what he did!!! At-least we could do what in our hands!!
Someone please explain to me why we are hell bent on beating up someone for this? We don't want the blasphemy law repealed but we STILL want to take the law into our own hands?
Then get rid of the friggin law, right? If you're anyway going to act like savage imbecile beasts, why have a law?
