Student-centred learning stressed

D.G Colleges Sindh said the future of higher education lies in institutional responsibility and innovative teaching

Speakers at a seminar titled "Teachers — The Change Makers" emphasized that teaching excellence in colleges depends on professional ethics, accountability, and modern pedagogical skills. The event, held at Khatoon-e-Pakistan Government Degree Girls College, focused on strengthening professionalism and raising academic standards in Sindh's college education system.

Director General Colleges Sindh, Prof Dr Naveed Rab Siddiqui, said the future of higher education lies in institutional responsibility and innovative teaching. He called for adopting new learning strategies, improving assessment methods, and ensuring transparency in performance. "Professionalism, accountability and innovation are the three pillars of educational excellence," he stated, urging colleges to embed technology and research-based teaching practices in classrooms.

Prof Nasir Iqbal, Principal Adamjee Government Science College, highlighted discipline, dedication and continuous learning as essential attributes of a modern educator. He stressed mentorship-driven academic environments where senior teachers guide junior faculty and promote a cooperative culture.

Prof Sameen Durdana, Principal Government Girls Degree College Gulzar-e-Hijri, discussed the importance of emotional intelligence in teaching. She said empathetic behaviour, active listening and understanding student needs create a positive learning ecosystem and lead to improved outcomes. Earlier, Principal Prof Tahira Fayyaz welcomed speakers and participants, noting that the seminar aimed to promote teaching ethics and continuous professional development in colleges.
