PewDiePie unveils custom AI chat system powered by a ‘council’ of bots that vote on responses

PewDiePie showcased his self-built AI chat system featuring multiple bots that debate and vote on answers

YouTuber PewDiePie has revealed a new self-hosted artificial intelligence system he designed and built himself, featuring what he describes as a “council” of AI chatbots that debate and vote on the best response to his questions.

The creator showcased the project in his latest video titled “STOP. Using AI Right now,” explaining that he wanted to explore how far open-source tools could go when fully run on local hardware.

His setup operates on a 10-GPU rig and uses large language models ranging from 70B to 245B parameters, all running through vLLM without relying on cloud computing.

PewDiePie said he wanted to “max out” his computer and experiment with features such as search integration, long-term memory, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and text-to-speech audio output.

The system runs entirely offline and presents responses through a user interface he coded himself, designed to function similarly to ChatGPT.

He described one of the main features as a “council” of AI agents that each generate their own answer before voting on which one is best. However, in testing, the bots occasionally began “colluding” or agreeing too much, forcing him to adjust the system.

At one point, PewDiePie expanded the experiment to a 64-bot “swarm,” which he said strained his web interface and revealed new challenges in scaling the system.

He also announced plans to fine-tune his own AI model next month based on the results.

In addition to his AI experiments, PewDiePie confirmed that his GPUs are also contributing idle computing power to Folding@home under Team Pewds (1066966) to support disease research.
