SARGODHA:

Commissioner Sargodha Division Jahanzaib Awan has directed all departments to accelerate efforts to achieve the wheat cultivation targets set for the division.

He issued the directives while chairing the Divisional Wheat Committee's meeting on Saturday. The meeting was informed that wheat will be cultivated on 1.721 million acres across the division this year, with 61,000 acres already sown — double the rate of last year.

Director Agriculture Shahid Hussain highlighted the next 20 days as crucial for sowing and announced awareness campaigns through mosques, social media, and local outreach.

Farmers have been advised on certified seed use and fertilizer application, while 221 agricultural graduates are guiding farmers in the field. The Punjab government has fixed the support price at Rs3,500 per maund and introduced three new high-yield varieties.
