MIRANSHAH:

In yet another incident of target killing, a prominent tribal elder and his two sons were gunned down late Friday night in the Dattakhel tehsil of North Waziristan.

According to police, unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire near the residence of tribal elder Ayub Nawaz in the Mami Rogha Manzar Khel area, killing him and his sons Sakhi Zaman and Wali Rehman on the spot. The attackers fled immediately after the shooting.

District Police Officer (DPO) Waqar Ahmad confirmed the incident, describing it as a case of target killing. "Initial investigation suggests the attack was premeditated, but the motive will be determined once the inquiry is complete," he said. "The culprits will be arrested soon and brought to justice."

Police teams reached the crime scene, collected evidence, and launched a search operation across the area to trace the suspects. The bodies were shifted to a local hospital for postmortem examination, and security has been tightened in and around the vicinity.

The late-night shooting caused panic among residents, spreading fear throughout the region. Local elders and tribal leaders strongly condemned the killing, calling it a dangerous sign for peace and stability in the area.

They urged the government and security agencies to take decisive measures to curb the rising wave of target killings and to ensure the protection of tribal elders.
