With the onset of dry and cold weather after sunset, the anti-dengue emergency season has officially ended across Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and the entire division.
The campaign will now continue under routine activity, while daily meetings have been replaced with weekly reviews.
The conclusion of the dengue season has placed about 2,700 to 3,000 temporary and daily-wage male and female workers at risk of termination, likely in November.
This year, 133 workers were dismissed for submitting fake reports, clearing areas without inspection, or taking unauthorised leave, while 38 were issued show-cause notices.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Hasan Waqar Cheema has directed officials to prepare a new anti-dengue plan for the next three months, to be implemented by February 2026, emphasizing a grassroots-level approach.
During the 2025 campaign, 1,359 teams inspected 6,138,122 houses, recovering dengue larvae from 197,816 homes and 27,370 hotspots. Overall, larvae were detected at 225,186 sites and destroyed on the spot.
From 20,278 lab tests, 1,325 dengue patients were reported in hospitals. Authorities registered 4,721 cases and sealed 1,910 properties for violations, imposing fines totalling Rs11.28 million.
