Alexandra Daddario breaks silence on viral fan calls to play ‘Wonder Woman’ in new DC Universe

Alexandra Daddario has finally responded to the viral fan movement casting her as the next Wonder Woman in James Gunn’s revamped DC Universe. The actress addressed the growing speculation during an interview with ScreenRant while promoting her upcoming film I Wish You All The Best, revealing that she was both surprised and flattered by the online enthusiasm.

“I have to be honest, I haven’t seen any of that,” Daddario said when asked about the flood of fan art depicting her as Wonder Woman or Catwoman. “I’m flattered to hear that it’s happening, but I haven’t seen it.” She added that she would love the chance to work with Gunn, saying, “Working with James Gunn would be amazing in any capacity, but I wasn’t aware that that was going on.”

The 39-year-old star, best known for Baywatch, The White Lotus, and Percy Jackson, has long been a fan favourite for superhero roles thanks to her striking looks and commanding screen presence. Fans online have been sharing AI renderings and edits showing Daddario in the iconic Amazonian armour, reigniting debate about who could best replace Gal Gadot, who previously played the character in multiple DC films.

James Gunn confirmed earlier this year that a Wonder Woman project is in active development as part of DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. A prequel series titled Paradise Lost is also in progress, and while no casting announcements have been made, speculation continues to dominate fan discussions on social media.
