Four of a family killed in bus-bike collision

Four members of the same family, including two women, were killed when a speeding passenger bus rammed into their motorcycle on Jaranwala Road on Thursday. Police have taken the bodies into custody and launched a search for the absconding bus driver. The tragic accident occurred near Jhalwala Bridge, close to the Shell petrol pump, within the jurisdiction of Jaranwala Sadar Police Station.

As per initial reports, the victims, Shafqat, 18, Mubeen Bibi, 20, their mother Parveen, 50 and Neelam, 30, were residents of Chak 354 GB, Rurri Syedwala.

They were traveling together on a motorcycle towards Faisalabad when the speeding bus, driven recklessly, struck them from behind. The impact threw all four riders onto the road, and the bus ran over them, killing them instantly. Witnesses said the driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.

The accident triggered chaos in the area, with a large crowd of locals gathering at the site, leading to a temporary traffic jam. Police officials arrived shortly after, moved the bodies to the hospital for post-mortem, and began raids to apprehend the driver responsible.

According to official data, 310 people have lost their lives and more than 24,000 have been injured in traffic accidents across Faisalabad's four tehsils over the past ten months.
