Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin is mourning the loss of his wife, Anca Faur, who passed away at the age of 66.

The news was confirmed by the Faur and Aldrin families in a joint statement shared on Facebook, revealing that she died peacefully on October 28, 2025, surrounded by her husband and her son, Vlad Ghenciu.

The cause of death was not disclosed. The family described Faur as “an accomplished chemical engineer with a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh,” who served as treasurer of the California Hydrogen Business Council and as Executive Vice President of Buzz Aldrin Ventures LLC.

Aldrin, now 95, paid a heartfelt tribute to his late wife, saying, “I am so fortunate to have found and married the love of my life. She brought joy to everything we did together. I will miss her dearly.”

The couple met in 2017 at a professional event and began dating in 2018. They tied the knot in January 2023 on Aldrin’s 93rd birthday, holding an intimate ceremony near their home. Aldrin described their wedding as “a private celebration, just us and the stars in the sky.”

In previous interviews, Aldrin often spoke about his deep connection with Faur, calling her “the love of my life” and praising her intelligence, warmth, and courage.

Faur’s death marks a heartbreaking loss for one of America’s most celebrated astronauts, who continues to inspire generations decades after his historic moon landing.
