DreamWorks’ Forgotten Island casts H.E.R., Liza Soberano, Lea Salonga, and more in an island adventure tale

DreamWorks Animation has revealed the star-studded voice cast for its upcoming animated feature Forgotten Island, featuring H.E.R., Liza Soberano, Lea Salonga, Dave Franco, Manny Jacinto, and Jenny Slate.
The adventure comedy is slated for a theatrical release on September 25, 2026, via Universal Pictures.
Directed and written by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, Forgotten Island follows two lifelong best friends — Jo (H.E.R.) and Raissa (Soberano) — who become stranded on the magical and mysterious island of Nakali. Their only way home might come at the cost of their most precious memories, setting the stage for an emotional and imaginative journey of friendship and self-discovery.
Rooted in Philippine mythology, the film celebrates culture, music, and adventure. It marks the third collaboration between Crawford and producer Mark Swift, who previously teamed up on the Oscar-nominated Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. The movie also serves as Mercado’s feature directorial debut, following his work as co-director on The Last Wish.
The all-star cast includes multi-award-winning artist H.E.R., known for her Oscar-winning song “Fight for You” and her role in The Color Purple; Filipino actress Liza Soberano, who made her Hollywood debut in Lisa Frankenstein; and Broadway legend Lea Salonga, celebrated for Miss Saigon and her iconic Disney performances as Jasmine and Mulan.
With its rich cultural roots, heartfelt story, and powerful lineup, Forgotten Island is shaping up to be one of DreamWorks Animation’s most anticipated films of 2026.
