Lil Durk associate THF Bayzoo fatally shot in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood

Chicago rapper THF Bayzoo, associate of Lil Durk, fatally shot in Little Village amid ongoing violence

Chicago drill rapper Devonsha Collier, known professionally as THF Bayzoo and a longtime associate of Lil Durk, was shot and killed in the city’s Little Village neighborhood over the weekend, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Authorities said the 35-year-old artist was gunned down around 3 p.m. Saturday in the 3100 block of South St. Louis Avenue. Two other men, ages 39 and 42, were also injured in the shooting. Collier was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead early Sunday. His death has been ruled a homicide, and police confirmed no suspects were in custody as of Monday.

Footage that allegedly captures the fatal shooting surfaced on social media shortly after the incident. The video reportedly shows two armed assailants running toward Collier and two others before firing multiple shots from close range.

Collier’s death comes eight years after he was acquitted of murder charges in the 2009 killing of 21-year-old Dominic Barnes in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood. According to Chicago Tribune archives, Collier was arrested in 2014 at the Orland Park residence of rapper Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks. A Cook County jury later found Collier not guilty in 2017.

Since his acquittal, Collier had faced multiple felony gun charges, though records show one case was dismissed and he was acquitted in another.

His death marks the fourth fatal shooting of someone close to Lil Durk in the past decade. The rapper’s manager, Uchenna “Chino” Agina, was killed in 2015; his protégé King Von was fatally shot in 2020; and Durk’s brother was killed outside a suburban nightclub in 2021.
