Unnamed White Lotus star rumored to play Rapunzel in Disney’s Tangled live-action remake
A new rumor claims an actress from HBO’s The White Lotus is the frontrunner to play Rapunzel in Disney’s Tangled

A new rumor suggests that one of the stars from HBO’s hit series The White Lotus may be the frontrunner to play Rapunzel in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Tangled. The report, shared by industry insider @MyTimeToShineH, claims an actress from the award-winning series is being strongly considered for the lead role.
While the identity of the actress remains undisclosed, speculation online points to names such as Sarah Catherine Hook, Lalisa Manobal, Aimee Lou Wood, Charlotte Le Bon, and Sydney Sweeney as possible contenders. Disney has not yet commented on the rumor, but reports indicate that the film’s development has resumed after a temporary pause.
The live-action Tangled was initially delayed following the commercial and critical failure of Disney’s Snow White remake, which grossed only $205.7 million worldwide against a reported $270 million budget. The project is now reportedly back on track under the direction of Michael Gracey, best known for The Greatest Showman and Better Man, with a screenplay by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Thor: Love and Thunder).
In addition to Rapunzel’s casting, Scarlett Johansson is reportedly in discussions to portray Mother Gothel, the film’s central antagonist. Speaking about the potential collaboration, Johansson praised Gracey as “an extraordinary visionary” and said she would be eager to work with him.
The original 2010 animated Tangled became a modern Disney classic, earning nearly $600 million globally and featuring the voices of Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, and Donna Murphy. The live-action remake does not yet have a confirmed release date but is expected to follow the same beloved story of Rapunzel’s quest for freedom and adventure.
