Sydney Sweeney is closing one chapter and opening another. The Euphoria star has officially wrapped filming on the long-awaited third season of HBO’s hit series, marking the end of a defining era in her career while preparing for a striking transformation into Hollywood icon Kim Novak.

Speaking at the AFI Fest premiere of her new drama Christy, Sweeney confirmed she was just days away from finishing Euphoria season 3. After a three-year gap since the show’s last instalment, returning to set felt like a homecoming. “It’s mostly the same crew, so it feels like I’m going home to family,” she said. “I’ve grown up with them. I was 20 when I did the pilot.”

While HBO has stated that season 3 will be the final chapter, Sweeney kept quiet about whether a fourth season might ever happen, saying only, “I cannot confirm any information.” Co-star Jacob Elordi recently called the new season “incredibly liberating,” teasing that Sam Levinson has crafted something “clever and cinematic.”

Once Euphoria officially wraps, Sweeney will shift gears to her next major role in Scandalous, directed by Colman Domingo. The film explores Kim Novak’s controversial interracial romance with singer Sammy Davis Jr. in 1957, a relationship that shocked Hollywood at the time and nearly destroyed both their careers.

Sweeney shared that she plans to meet Novak in person to prepare, along with working with movement and dialect coaches to perfect her portrayal. “I’m really excited,” she said, noting that embodying a real-life star presents a new kind of challenge after years of portraying fictional characters.

Between her acclaimed performances, producing ventures, and upcoming biopic, Sweeney continues to prove she’s one of Hollywood’s most versatile young talents. As Euphoria draws to a close, her move into prestige period drama cements her evolution from TV breakout to cinematic force.
