TikTok star Emman Atienza’s cause of death confirmed by Los Angeles coroner
Rising TikTok personality Emman Atienza has died by suicide at the age of 19, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed on Friday.
The Filipino social media star passed away on Wednesday, just months after moving to Los Angeles to pursue a new chapter in her career.
Atienza gained popularity for her fashion, body positivity, and motivational videos, amassing over 866,000 followers on TikTok and 225,000 on Instagram, with nearly 44.5 million likes across her content.
According to reports, she relocated from the Philippines to California during the summer, hoping to expand her career and seek professional help for her mental health struggles. In a heartfelt Instagram post shared in January 2024, Atienza opened up about her battle with treatment-resistant mental illness since age 12. She shared that despite years of therapy, she continued to struggle but ended the post with hope for the year ahead.
Her parents, Filipino TV host Kim Atienza and businesswoman Felicia Hung, confirmed her “unexpected passing” in a statement, saying: “Emman brought so much joy, laughter, and love into our lives. Her authenticity helped many feel less alone.”
Fans across social media paid tribute to the young influencer, remembering her as a “light to be around” and thanking her for her honesty about mental health.
