Kacey Musgraves has returned with a deeply emotional ballad titled “If The World Burns Down,” featured on the soundtrack for Netflix’s Nobody Wants This season 2.
Both the new season and its accompanying soundtrack dropped on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
The acclaimed singer-songwriter, known for her poetic storytelling, co-wrote the song with Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk, longtime collaborators behind her Grammy-winning hits. The track captures themes of love and vulnerability, with lyrics that read:
“If the world burns down / Opens at the seams / Well, I hope you know / You were it for me.”
Netflix describes Nobody Wants This as a romantic comedy following Joanne (Kristen Bell), an outspoken podcaster, and Noah (Adam Brody), a kindhearted rabbi, as they navigate love and faith despite their differences. In season 2, the pair attempts to blend their lives while facing new emotional challenges.
Musgraves’ contribution to the soundtrack continues her tradition of crafting introspective, heartfelt music that resonates with listeners. The song follows her recent cover of the 1949 country classic “Lost Highway,” originally by Hank Williams, which held special meaning for the singer due to her connection with her grandfather.
The Nobody Wants This season 2 soundtrack also includes music by Chris Stapleton, Ella Langley, Selena Gomez, FINNEAS, and Alessia Cara, creating a diverse mix of genres and voices.
Fans can stream “If The World Burns Down” now across all major platforms, alongside the new season of Nobody Wants This on Netflix.
